The Rubbish Bin Clip
Made from recycled shoe-sole rubber, it stops environmental waste in high winds. Approved by Orkney Island Council's (OIC) Waste Management team.

Orville and Wilbur Wright were bike mechanics who conducted small-scale experiments with gliders and wind tunnels and ended up revolutionising travel. Boyan Slat, a teenager, developed an ocean-cleaning device that led to The Ocean Cleanup, the largest ocean cleaning project in history. Nicola Appert experimented with sealing food in jars and heating them to prevent spoilage – and laid the foundations for modern food preservation. William Kamkwamba, a determined teenager in Malawi, built a wind turbine from scrap materials to bring electricity to his village. George Washington Carver transformed agriculture by developing hundreds of uses for peanuts, sweet potatoes and other crops, helping farmers and communities thrive. Isatou Ceesay saw the harm plastic waste was causing in her community and launched a movement to recycle it into useful products, reducing pollution and empowering local women.
